The setup: Two days after Bob Knight is fired, I’m contacted by Mike Pegram (of, still an active IU fan site) who offers me the chance to appear on MSNBC the following morning, to talk about the aftermath of the firing. Mike, at this point, isn’t terribly comfortable with doing TV appearances, so I’m happy to take his place. I tape the MSNBC appearance at WTIU, then go about my business that morning. Part of that business included getting into a shouting match with Christopher Simpson’s secretary, but that’s another story for another day.

Anyway, I spend the morning at Assembly Hall with Brenda, and then decide to go home and change. En route, I get a call from a man identifying himself as Geraldo’s producer on CNBC. He says they saw me earlier on MSNBC and liked what they saw, and would I please come on the show that night to talk about the same stuff? I said…yes, I’d be happy to pop up on national TV once more. 🙂
