Another day, another interview. This one was conducted by a Medill SoJ tandem, talking about the BCS. This was March 2010, so it remains pertinent at the time of this writing.

The BCS issue is a hot topic on-air at such outlets as the Walt Disney Co.’s ABC and ESPN, which own the broadcast rights for the BCS exclusively through 2014.

“Do they start backing it?” asked Indiana University’s Clavio. “I don’t know if you’ll see overt praise of the BCS, but at the end of the day, they [ESPN] are now vested in trying to promote the BCS and trying to get as many people watching the BCS” as possible. Some of the commentary will be aimed at promoting the system overtly, Clavio said, and some will be aimed at stirring up controversy about the system, which could bring in some additional viewers.
